Begun in 2013, this team has already made over 110 knitted and crocheted prayer shawls that are given free of charge to those in need – the bereaved, the chronically or critically ill, newly baptized or confirmed, those facing life challenges. We also take shawls around the corner to our neighborhood nursing home. Pastor periodically blesses newly made shawls during worship and you may see parishioners working on shawls during church meetings.
Anyone who wants to learn to crochet will be taught so that they can not only create shawls but also learn this skill for their own growth. Shawls may also be sewn, woven or quilted. We have a yarn bank for those who want to create shawls but cannot afford to buy yarn. We also collect yarn remnants to make “Joseph” shawls of many colors. If you cannot create shawls donations to support this ministry are much appreciated.
